The series is based on my observation that bilateral symmetry present in nature is, for the most part, used on a very small scale…highly identifiable in the decorative aesthetics of butterflies and insects, ranging up to humans and larger animals, in which symmetry is very present in form, but becoming more subtle in decoration. Large scale decorative bilateral symmetry, this is what God has left undone…

“Undone Symmetry” attempts to bring this mode of design into a scale never experienced before. The large works are created with black, white, and a neon acrylic palette, using a folding and layering process before stretching the canvas.
